Dream Bigger and go beyond possible

How to Dream Bigger and Go Beyond Possible.

Don’t let anyone tell you that bigger isn’t always better. It is indeed! The word bigger is a relative term. It means to just reach a little higher or go a bit further than where you are NOW, at this moment in time. Meaning, that our vision and goals for the future are just a bit brighter. Here is an example of what I mean. Someone may be dreaming of quitting that dead-end job that goes nowhere. Well then, to dream bigger may be to focus on what job or position you really want. If your current dream is to make just enough money to support yourself, then maybe you could reach a little higher by imagining or manifesting that living a comfortable life for yourself and others. Dream bigger and go beyond the possible.

Just because we want to dream bigger doesn’t necessarily mean that we want to be a billionaire (or does it?). It only means that we have chosen to set our bar a bit higher and see greater possibilities for ourselves.

Dreams are related to goals and we need to also be realistic while planning them out. Instead of listening to someone telling you to “dream bigger”, you may not know where to start. Here are some ideas to help you get started.

Dream Bigger Dreams | You Will GROW Into Them!

Most of us are considered small dreamers (but I have changed my mindset). I never really knew what I “wanted to be when I grew up”. I believe it is how we are raised as children and learn from how our parents live and think. We were always a simple family and lived in the country on a farm. Growing our own crops and providing food from the garden and the livestock we raised in order to feed the family.

Sure, I was a dreamer and felt there had to be something out there for me, but never really aspired for BIG things. However, I did want to travel and instead of going to college, I decided to become a flight attendant. The day had come for my parents to sign the check for me to go to school to be trained, I backed out suddenly. That would have taken everything my parents had in their savings, and I just couldn’t let them do that. So I continued working in agriculture, as that is what I knew from living on the farm.

This is the problem for those of us who grow up in less than ideal circumstances. We don’t see others pursuing their dreams and just continue to live as our parents do. You don’t know what you don’t know.

Of course, this is nothing to be ashamed of, but it may not be what you want in life and continue to feel that something is missing. If you want to dream bigger, then you need to start shifting your mindset to find what that may be. So, how do we start?

Dream Bigger - You will grow into them.

Start to Dream Bigger | But How?

I can tell you how, because I have gone through this process myself and it doesn’t happen overnight. You start by swapping out a small dream for one that is slightly larger. Then another, and another until you are a bit uncomfortable. This may not feel right to you because you feel that you are being greedy and may not deserve what you are asking for. Yes you do deserve what you ask for, as long as you take action and have confidence to achieve it.

Have Confidence to Dream Bigger

Motivational speakers tell us to have confidence and believe in yourself, in order to achieve your goals. If you don’t have self-confidence or self-esteem, then it’s difficult to dream bigger. As I mentioned earlier, you may ask yourself how you could possibly deserve such a thing. Well, you need to believe that you do.

So, the first step is to build up your confidence and start dreaming bigger. Can you remember when you wanted something so badly, that you had your mind set to succeed? Start doing that! I’m sure that certain things turned out even better than expected, right? Also, start searching for someone you look up to in your life or in the media that dare to dream and achieve it. Or, maybe a book that you have read.

Don’t Be Afraid to Fail | It’s How We Learn

The fear of failure is very real. Reaching for a bigger dream or goal is scary. Sometimes we tell ourselves that we can’t do that. We are so afraid of being uncomfortable, that we talk ourselves right out of it. We need to be uncomfortable in order to grow. There is always a chance of failure, and that can be very scary. But, it could change our lives forever. So, you just don’t know what you COULD have had. So, don’t miss out on walking through any open door of a new opportunity. Go for it!

Develop a mindset of growth and believe that the learning experience is greater than failure. Besides, if we do fail, remember that this shows us what does not work and we learn from it. This just added growth to your mindset. Get comfortable with failure and build the skill of setting goals to do harder things that you may fail at. You will not fail all of the time and see how much you will grow along the way.

Don’t be Afraid of Success

In today’s world, I have noticed that people focus on the fear of failure. But should we really focus on why we are afraid of success? Success could mean something different to you than it does to me. Maybe, it could be that someone feels left out, away from your friend or family group. It may also mean that you have more responsibility than others and don’t really want that. Also, others may start resenting you for your success leaving you feeling confused about your own self. Fear of success can be scary or lonely even.

Fear of success is a side-effect but if you know this going in, you can set your expectations to conquer it. So, don’t worry about it and let’s see if Dreaming Bigger has been blocked by your fear of success. Honestly, I have failed many times and more afraid of success than I am of failing. Failure is part of success and how we learn to start over and try again, more intelligently. Any of us can conquer failure; just keep trying. But, success on the other hand… Who would my “successful self” be? I worry that I may feel like an imposter in my own skin.

If the fear of success is preventing you to dream bigger, try and shift your own definition of success to match YOU. Success isn’t all about “the money” and if being famous or a billionaire isn’t your definition of success, then change it to yours. Make it clear in your mind what success means for you and then you can set your goal and reach for that.

Shift Your Mindset | Use Your Imagination

Now that you have worked through some of the issues that prevented you to dream bigger and you feel ready set bigger goals, it’s time to start using your imagination. Visualize a variety of different things that maybe you never thought of before. For example, owning your own business, traveling the world, or living on a tropical island. What do you want to achieve? Shift your mindset and Dream Bigger dreams!

As you visualize, try to be mindful, paying attention to how your body feels during each scenario. You’re imagining that these scenarios are your life, so your brain actually starts responding as if this was your life. Try to tune into how that feels, taking note of any thoughts or emotions that come up. It’s all useful information. Becoming mindfully aware of what you really want is key.

As you imagine different scenarios, is there one that feels better than the others? Ask yourself:

  • Does living this life feel good?
  • Does living this life feel authentic?
  • Does living this life feel like a big dream?

Use this visualization exercise to better understand which big dreams are a good fit for you.

Dream Bigger to reach your goals.

What is Your WHY or Meaning in Life?

When we dream the wrong or small dreams, we sometimes get stuck because we don’t truly explore what really matters to us. What gives your life meaning or purpose, your WHY? Also, having big dreams without meaning or purpose is just pointless and not achievable.

To achieve your dream by hurting others does NOT provide a meaning or purpose. Or if you just want to impress others or buy fancy things, how is that meaningful?

Becoming a millionaire can actually be a meaningful dream for some, but not for others. If someone wants to provide for their family, give back to the community, or help the less fortunate, then this gives a sense of meaning. Most people just don’t think through their reasons for what they desire.

Here are a few points that give us a meaningful purpose to dream bigger:

  • Positive relationships – Trusting relationships with others.
  • Self-acceptance. Having a positive attitudes about yourself.
  • Autonomy. The freedom to choose and direct your own actions.
  • Master Your Environment. – You can change your own circumstances.
  • Personal growth. – Personally develop and grow.
  • Purpose in life. – Have a meaningful direction in life.

Start Setting Goals

Having meaningful, big dreams is great, but if you don’t have goals and take action, they will be stuck in your mind for eternity. So, be practical once you know what your dream is and take the action required to make it happen.

Dreams are really just goals. So, ask yourself if they are truly achievable and realistic. Be specific and keep track of your goals, which makes them smart goals. You should ask yourself a few questions to see if they are indeed smart:

  1. Meaningful to you?
  2. Realistic?
  3. Clear, detailed, & specific?
  4. Achievable?
  5. Trackable?

When your dreams are crystal clear, you are able to navigate to the steps needed to get there. Also, you need to keep track of each step to know you are making progress along the way. This is why setting goals is the KEY to realize what your dreams really are.

Take Action on Your Goals

Getting started with this step is often the hardest part. So, think of one action you can take to make your dream come alive. You may get stuck before action takes place, so it is helpful to have some intentions to implement if that is the case. These are simply intentions planned out for what to do if your goals are not met. For example: If THIS happens, Then do THIS. (Same as If/Then statements when coding a program to make it function properly).

Implementation intentions can help execute our dreams more easily when set up ahead of time. Basically, it’s just another path to take if one is blocked so we can still navigate to our final destination.

Enjoy the Journey

We may spend too much time focusing on our dreams that we forget to enjoy the ride along the way. Your dreams will keep you inspired, but we need to be careful and not be consumed about the end goal. Don’t worry about if you will reach your goal or not. It will ruin the entire experience of your journey.

Try and focus and enjoy the process instead. Just imagine a brighter future that you are carefully taking control of your life and molding a new reality. Even small shifts in your mindset are important and totally worth celebrating. Having true and meaningful dreams can increase our own health and wellness, regardless if we even achieve that big goal in the end.

Dream Bigger | Final Thoughts

It’s not easy to dream bigger and you will have barriers along the way and may get stuck reaching your goals. Surprisingly, I didn’t even know what “My Why” was until a couple of years ago. I didn’t really have a purpose in life, so I thought. But, I have learned by searching and manifesting to be a better person and it has lead me to like-minded people. My dreams do matter and I am achieving them, one day at a time. And, your dreams matter too. So, shoot for the stars and Dream Bigger!
